James (Jimmy) Hunter-Hentz was born May 25th, 1936 on a beautiful summer day in Batesville Mississippi. Jimmy aka Woodrow was the fourth child born to Jussie and Woodrow Hentz. James moved to Chicago, Illinois where he met his beloved wife Claudia Brawner-Hunter.
The two fell in love and formed a blesses union of marriage on June 29th, 1966. James began working for the City of Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department, Bravig Blizzard and 100 degree heat day in and day out until his retirement 20 plus years.
James and Claudia formed a family that consisted of five children Steven Brawner, Frank Brawner-Woolridge, Marsha Brawner, Michele Brawner-Ranger, and Cornell (Bo) Hentz.
James also had children prior to marrying his wife Claudia. Robert (Deceased) Joann (Deceased) Woodrew Jr., and Melvin Hentz.
His Journey with Christ began at a young age, but his love for Christ flourished when he became a member at Bethany Baptist Church of Christ in the late 1980's. His love for Christ and Bethany led him to serving God ny working on several different committees including singing in the Men's Choir, Driving the Sunday School bus, and finally becoming a Deacon, where among many things he loved serving communion to the sick and shut in.
Through sickness and pain Deacon Hunter pressed his way to 1225 Elmwood to receive communion and to hear Rev. Little and later Reverend Holmes preach. As children, we remember family picnics at Lincoln Park Zoo, The I Bet I Can make you say Red or Who game (lol) we also remember daddy pulling out both his and his wife's battery and placing them into the house only to put them back into both cars so that they will start during the Blizzard of "79. James is now with his Co-Captain, Claudia who proceeded him in death.
he leaves behind and joins in heaven, his father Woodrow Hentz, Mother Jussie Hentz, Siblings: Brother EJ (Deceased), J.C. (Deceased), Wife Jessie, Roger (Deceased), Essie, C.W., Bobby Ray, Shirley Marie, Clemmie Pough, Dean Harvey, Gloria Jean and Jerry.
Children: Robert (Deceased), Woodrow Jr., Melvin, Joann (Deceased), Steven Brawner, Frank Brawner-Woolridge, Dedric Hentz, Marsha Brawner, Michele Brawner-Ranger, and Cornell (Bo) Hentz.
Grandchildren who affectionately called him Papa: Stavonne, Rohan, Glenn, Lashelle, Megan, Cornelius, Erique (Champ) Dahrell, Breannah, Autumn, Steven, Paris, Mychael, Mariyah, Sorriyah (Slim Goody), Marcus, Danielo, Jasmyne, Dominique, and Sephere. pluse over a dozen Great Grandchildren.
Notable Mention: After the passing of his wife James, enjoyed spending time attending church services with Betty his very special friend. he also leaves a host of other friends Rick, Joe and Corey to name a few. Please keep the family in your prayers.
