Jeffrey Brown, Sr. Obituary

Jeffrey Donaldson Brown, Sr., was born on August 21, 1942, in Alexandria, St. Ann, Jamaica West Indies, to Adina Teresa White and Clifford Aldolphus Brown. Jeffrey, referred to in his youth as "Jim," was the youngest of two children, but was raised by his Aunt Edith Wedderburn in Culloden, St. D'Acre. His sister proceded him in death as well as his grandmother Muriel Maude Brown and grandfather Joseph Brown.

Jeff attended Holmwood Technical High School, was enlisted in the military and then later worked for Alcan Jamaica Limited in Mandeville Manchester. In 1967, he met Elaine Powell where they began their courtship. In 1968, Elaine returned to Jamaica after migrating to the United States and the two were wed. Later that same year, Jeff joined her in the US and they began a new life in Evanston, Illinois. From there union, they reared four children, three conceived during their marriage; Donald, Jeffrey, Jr., Dionne and Natasha.

Jeff known as 'J.D." to his peers in the US was a member of the Evanston-Skokie Cricket Club. It was there developed many lasting relationships, and maintained and celebrated his cultural identity and values.

In the U.S. Jeff worked in the steam-turbine industry and was able to open his own business. Due to the shift from industrial to technological during the 80s, the business went under. Jeff took the loss personally and never recovered. As a result, his family was impacted which caused Jeff and Elaine to divorce.

Jeff leaves behind two half brothers in England, Davis Brown and Ian Brown; four children, eldest son Donald Brown and grandchildren Andre and Whitley; Jeffrey Brown ,Jr. (Felicia) and grandchildren Nathaniel and Jeffrey Marcus; Dionne Brown and grandson Jaylon; and Natasha Dobson (Meldon) and grandchildren Zakhari and Zoe. Jeff also leaves behind his Aunt Edith, Uncle Luther, and Uncle Alfred (Liz), and many other relatives, extend family and friends.
