Joseph Daniel Pride, Sr. affectionately known as Joe was born to Joe Frank Pride and Oma Lee Manning Pride on August 23, 1935 in New Middleton, TN. he was raised in "Pride Hollow" with his two sisters (Effie and Janath) and four brothers (Nathaniel, Ralph, James, and Thomas). He peacefully passed away at his home in Evanston, IL, on September 24, 2018. Joe attended school in Smith County. He worked diligently on the family farm until he was employed at the Carthage Shirt Factory. Not long after leaving Tennessee he obtained a job at Evanston Hospital in Illinois in 1957 at the age of 22 years old. He remained a loyal and faithful employee for over 40 years and retired from this fulfilling career.
Joe was an avid sport fan. He loved football, baseball, and basketball, and he kept himself fit by always riding his bicycle even when he got well in age. He loved riding the bike along Lake Michigan which was one of his favorite pastimes. In 1974 Joe Married Annie Mae Jones and to this union two sons were born. They were married until her untimely death in 2002.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annie, three brothers (Nathaniel, Ralph and Thomas), and one sister (Effie).
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Joseph Jr. and Jermaine of Evanston, IL; Janath Pride of Cookeville, TN, brother James (Sarah) Pride of Nashville, TN, uncle Curtis Manning of Watertown, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
