Carl Robinson was born on October 1, 1945 in Whistler, Alabama to William and Bernice Robinson. He was the youngest son of five children; two of whom preceded him in death; brother Gene and sister Louvern.
Carl was raised in a loving home in Alabama and at a young age developed a passion for literature and astrology. He loved God's nature and traveled many miles to witness God's creations. As a young boy, his family relocated to Chicago in the Hyde Park community. Carl received his education in the Chicago Public School District and obtained his high school diploma from Hyde Park High School in 1963. After high school, he entered the workforce briefly working at Reynolds Tobacco before deciding to continue his education at the Loop Junior College in Chicago. In 1965, Carl was blessed with the birth of his only child, Alan.
Carl had determination and encouragement to pursue his goals. He later worked at the US Steel Mill and ultimately enrolled and graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor Degree in Marketing in 1970. He had a passion for literature. He was always known to recite poems, quotes, and scriptures. William Shakespeare was one of his favorite poets. Carl was talented and gifted where many times it took a while before one could comprehend the true meaning of what he had quoted.
Carl relocated to Evanston in 1993 as a caregiver to a close friend and to bond with his son. He fellowshipped with his son and became a regular attendee at Fisher Memorial AME Zion Church. He loved the sound of all music and could often be seen walking around the city listening and dancing to groovy sounds. Carl was gentle, mild, and wore a soft smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending community festivals.
Carl's enthusiasm for life and love for conversation will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and caring son, Alan (Sharonne); Grandchildren; Quentin, D'Aria, Ricka and Alana; Great Grandchildren; La'Nigha, Donye, Antwaun Jr. and Karter; Siblings; Robby (Darlene) and Pat (Nolan) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
