Mr. Dennis Guy Myers, affectionately called "Desho" or "Mr. Desho", was born on JUly 24, 1949, in Belize City, Belize, Central America, to Lucius Myers and Gertell Savery. He was preceded in death by his parent. He received his formal education at Wesley Primary School and Nazarene High School in Belize. Dennis was raised by his beloved grandmother, the late Ms. Elfreda Lewis; and at the age of 19, he moved to the United Stated to join his mother and brother in Chicago, IL.
Dennis was employed by Cambridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Skokie, IL, as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for over 40 years. He retired from the company in 2016 due to illness. He had a passion for cooking Belizean food and was especially known for his famous chicharron. He truly enjoyed cooking for others. Dennis loved having a good time with his family and loved sharing his raunchy jokes. Back in the day, he also enjoyed serving as a DJ for parties and playing soccer. His love for his children and grandchildren was undeniable, always speaking of them with great pride and joy.
Dennis was born into eternity on the early morning of Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters: Irma Myers Redd, Sara Mysers Yards, Yvonne Myers Olivera, and Sharlene Myers Sosa; two brothers: Lucius Myers, Jr. and Alvin Sutherland, Sr. (Teresa); two sons: Dennis, Jr. and Gregory (Millie Scott); two daughters: Denise and Audrey Tasker-Lewis (Shaun): one bonus daughter: Michelle Andrewin; at least 20 grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. His youngest son, Kyle, preceded him in death in June 2016.
