Mr. James L Ervin, Sr.

Mr. James Ervin, Sr. 83 years of age passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in Waukegan, Illinois. James was born May 1, 1936 in Killmichall, MS to the late T.P. Ervin and Mamie Lee Ervin. He was the eldest of 4 children, Flora Ervin, Rosie Ervin and brother Billy Ervin.

James left Mississippi at a young age. He took up residence in Evanston, IL where he worked in the prestigious construction industry for many years before becoming successful with his own business, James Ervin & Son, Inc.

He shared a 27 year partnership with Barbara Cooper, son James Ervin Jr. And step-daughter Mia Cooper and daughter Michelle Davis. Two years after the passing of his beloved Barbara, James retired and lived out the rest of his days with his loving son James Ervin Jr. and his daughter-in-law Kendra Ervin and his grandchildren, Kaleb Ervin, Khamarie Petty, Ja’Sesn Ervin, Kyler Ervin and Shawn Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Catherine Williams, Mamie Merrill, Carolyn Rayford and son Carlos a Ervin, along with a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and special friends.
