Jesse Louis “Todd” Harmon, Jr. was born in Evanston, Illinois on March 14, 1959 to Rebecca and the late Jesse L. Harmon, Sr.
Todd was educated in the Evanston Public School System.
He was employed by the City of Evanston as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He also worked for Northern Weathermakers as a HVAC Technician, and as a Driver for the Pace Bus Company. He drove for various 18-wheel tractor trailer companies which fed his love for the road and travel.
Todd accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age, starting Sunday School at the age of four at Sherman United Methodist Church of Evanston, Illinois.
Todd had a kind-hearted and pleasant personality that radiated to people around him. To know him was to love him.
He developed a love for fishing from his grandfather, Emmett Blackwell and it gave him great pleasure to compete with his grandfather and his uncle Garland for the best, “catch of the day.” Under his uncle Garland’s tutelage, he learned to love riding motorcycles. His favorite sport was basketball and he’d play as often as possible. Todd was very mechanically inclined and loved the challenge of taking things apart and putting them back together. He also had a passion for reading and working crossword puzzles. A free spirit at heart, everyone he met was his friend.
Todd departed this earthly life on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse L. Harmon, Sr., and his brothers: James C. Edwards, Jr. and Jonathan Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving parents Rebecca and James C. Edwards, Sr. of Brunswick, Georgia; sisters: Rae (Melvin) Malone of Skokie, Illinois and Adrienne Edwards of Brunswick, Georgia; sister-in-law Lisa Edwards of Skokie, Illinois; nieces: Crystal Malone of Skokie, Illinois, Lauren Malone of Chicago, Illinois and Alyse Edwards of Skokie, Illinois; nephews: Courtney Edwards of Joliet, Illinois and Jeremy Edwards of Florissant, Missouri, aunt: Rose Perkins of Evanston, Illinois; uncles: George (Dot) Blackwell of Skokie, Illinois, William Harmon of Las Vegas, Nevada and Abelard Harmon of Evanston, Illinois; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
Todd was a kind, generous, and fun-loving person. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He will be lovingly remembered by everyone.
