Sidney Randolph Caselberry was born on July 20, 1947, and left this life on January 9, 2020 at age
72. Sidney was the oldest of six children born from the union of the late Eddie Sr. and Ruth (Finch)
Caselberry.
Sidney matriculated through the Evanston Public School systems attending Foster, Central, Dewey
and Skiles Middle School; and graduating from Evanston Township High School (ETHS) in 1966. During
Sidney’s years at ETHS, he participated and lettered on several sports teams including football, baseball
and track. After graduating from ETHS, Sidney went on to attend Tennessee State University, where
he also played football. He also studied at Southern Illinois and Loyola University.
Sidney returned to Evanston committed to giving back to his community. His love for his community
started with coaching little league baseball in the Pop Warner organization, with the help of his childhood
friend, Ron Butler. Sidney continued his passion for helping his community through mentoring and working
with those in need. He served several organizations including being a member of the African American
Football Club and spent several years working with Connections for the Homeless. Sidney also served
two terms on the McGaw YMCA Board, and in 2013 was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Sidney’s spent his career with several companies including Old Equity Insurance Company, Wilson
Jones, Rustoleum, American Hospital Supply and W. W. Grainger (WWG). As a valued team member at
WWG, Sidney’s keen technological skills moved him from a programmer to Project Manager, where he
had a team of five employees reporting to him.
In 1992, Sidney read in the Grainger newsletter that Marion Shephard had joined the company. He
quickly called her for a lunch date and five years later, on October 25, 1997, Sidney and Marion married
and became one. Sidney and Marion loved serving and worshipping God together. They joined Victory
Cathedral Worship Center in Bolingbrook, Illinois under the dynamic and anointed Pastor Smokie Norful.
For fourteen years, Sidney and Marion served the ministry in many ways including numerous committees.
Sidneys’ favorite ministry was working in the children’s church and GYA (Give Yourself Away).
