Lois P. Eley, born Pearl Lois Johnson on July 23, 1922
in Brookport, IL took her wings on Wednesday morning of June 6,
2019. She is preceded by her parents, William Edward and Savannah
Wheeler, both from Savannah, TN; husband Arthur Eley,
daughter Kerry Long, and six siblings: Grover Johnson, Herschel
Henry Johnson, Sr., Russell Henry Johnson, Sr., Augustine Johnson,
Freeland Johnson and Kathryn “Tink” Westbrook; two half sisters:
Allie Johnson, Annie Lula Johnson and three half brothers:
Harry Johnson, Joseph P. Johnson and Earl Johnson. She lived in
Brookport, IL and graduated from Brookport High School on May
31, 1941.

Herschel L. “Butch” Long; both from Evanston, IL. However,
due to failing health, Herschel resides in Radcliff, Kentucky. Lois
gave her life to Christ many years ago and faithfully attended
Second Baptist Church in Evanston, before a series of health problems
prevented her from going. She was an avid reader and there
wasn’t a day that went by that she wasn’t reading. She would read
just about anything but she was especially fond of cowboy books,
novels, and mysteries. She retired from Evanston High School
after many years of service.
Lois leaves to cherish her memory two sons, James (Jimi)
Howard and Herschel (Butch) Long; two grandchildren, James
Howard, Jr. of Evanston, IL, Jontue Devlin (Leonard) of Atlanta,
GA; three great grand children, Oshun Dunn, Royal Dunn, and
James III and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
