Shirley was born on April 12, 1923 to her loving parents Marcella and John Dalton, in Hartville, Tennessee. She was on of the four children. Proceeding her in death were her parents, Marcella and John, her siblings John Jr., James, and Alvilda.
Shirley was educated in Hartville, Tennessee where she lived until she was nineteen years old at which time she moved to Evanston, Illinois with her eldest sister, Alvilda. Once in Evanston, Shirley worked as a domestic for several families on the North Shore. She later meet, fell in love with and married Robert Osborne.
To this union was born seven children; Shelia Marie, James Robert (LuBop) (deceased) Calvin Coutney (Crab) (deceased) Sharon Elaine, KathyLynn, and Lori Ann.
Shirley was a member of Ebenezer AME Church for many years under the leadership of Reverend Robinson.
Shirley had a gracious heart and loved her family. In addition to her children, she helped raise her grandchildren and had an open door policy for other in the community. She was well known, loved, and respected in the Evanston Community.
Shirley leaves to mourn her children; Shelia, Sharon (Shawn), Kathy (Anthony), and Lori; sister; Rachel Adams; brothers; George (Maybelline), Isaiash (Carmela), and John Dalton; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, cousins, and friends. Shirley will truly be missed but never forgotten.
