Sharon May Doby was born on January 27, 1940 in Evanston, Illinois. Sharon was adopted by John and Sally Murray as an infant. Her parents wholeheartedly loved, cherished and honored her until their death. Sharon’s biological parents Dr. Frank D. Smith and Agnes Twiggs Smith remained a part of her life throughout adulthood. Born to this union were five children Diane Gratton, Walter (Sparky) Smith, Martha Jane Smith Curry (deceased), Franklin D. Smith Jr. (deceased) and David (jungle) Smith (deceased).
Sharon was joined in holy matrimony with Rufus Doby Jr. in 1957. To this union they were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Robin, Sally and Karen. Sharon Gave her life to Christ at an early age. She became a member of Second Baptist Church under Christian Experience in 2004. Sharon began her education at Foster School and continued throughout the Evanston School system to Evanston Township High School. She retired from the City of Evanston after approximately 20 years of service.
In her teen years, Sharon was a member of the YMCA Youth Counsel and the Diablos Social Club in Evanston. Later as an adult, she was a member of the Exclusive 13 a long-standing private club. After she retired, Sharon served as Recording Secretary at the Foster Senior Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters Robin Doby, Sally Doby and Karen ( Gregory) Woodfork; two granddaughters, Amber Doby and Rayne Woodfork; two great-grandchildren, Donna and Kadynn Pommells; one sister Diane Gratton; one brother Walter Smith and a host of loving family members.
