Alex Patrick Thomas, affectionately called Big AI, Patrick, Patrique (gotta have the creole on it), Big Fa, Big Alex, Big Pat, and others was born on June 27, 1980 to the union of Antonio and Vitania Thomas in Skokie, IL but was raised in Evanston, IL. Both parents would eventually become
Americans but are proudly of Haitian and Dominican descent.
As a Christian first family, Alex was raised as a child of God and had several Haitian and American church homes. Alex was baptized as a child and continued his walk with Christ throughout his time with us.
As a child, Alex began his education at Dawes Elementary School. After graduating from 5th grade he moved on to Chute Middle School, yet, it was at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) where his legacy blossomed. He was a student, friend, football Hall of Famer, track & field star, and an all around leader among his peers and the greater Evanston community.
There was not a classmate, teacher, security officer, counselor, coach, administrator, or "old head" who was not enamored with this big teddy bear. His infectious smile, laughter, passion for others, and all around great personality is what shined through in all of his relationships. But don't let the smooth taste fool ya. You did not want to disturb this gentle giant. Whether in school or around the "Town", Alex was respected.
