"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Calvin Rayburn Sanchez, loving father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend went on to glory on November 21, 2024 peacefully at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston. He was born on October 22nd, 1954, in Belize City, British Honduras (now Belize) to Laura Sanchez and Gerald TingLing.
He received his primary education, in Belize, before migrating to the United States where he lived in Evanston, Illinois. Calvin continued his secondary education at Evanston Township High School and then completed his bachelor’s degree in engineering at Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois. Calvin worked for the City of Evanston and the Village of Skokie for many years before he retired.
Calvin leaves behind a host of family members, among them, his children Stephanie and Coretta, his beautiful granddaughter Cassidy Renae; his siblings Vivian, Dawn, Philippa, and Lloyd TingLing; his ex-wife Ruthbell Sanchez. Affected by his departure are a number of family friends: Felicia and Devonte Moret, Diana and Lester Morris, Peggy Carter, Linsford Pitts, Roger Gabourel, Herb Stephens and Norman Wade. Too many friends and family members to name, as he was loved by all.
Even though Calvin came to the United States at an early age, he never forgot his native Belize. He was a member of Concerned Belizeans Inc. an organization that supports the young students of Belize with scholarships and beyond. Calvin truly knew that it was better to give than to receive. His generosity knew no bounds.
Calvin was an important figure in his daughters and granddaughter's life. His radiant smile lit up whenever he referred to his daughters, and when he mentioned his granddaughter. He enjoyed speaking with Cassidy Renae and Coretta. He lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family and friends. Calvin was the most important figure in Coretta's life. She states she" has never met anyone else who loved as hard as he did". He would give his last penny or minute for someone else to thrive. He loved whole-heartedly. He was an extremely hard workingman, who didn't sleep until everything was completely done. He enjoyed gardening every week, as he had a green thumb, and enjoyed his days outside planting many different plants and vegetables. Calvin was also a dog breeder. Customers would come from all over to purchase dogs from him after seeing his ad in the paper. He was an honest man.
Today, we will lay him to rest. We will be remembering all the amazing work he has done for his family, his friends and others. Although Calvin is gone, He will live in our hearts forever.
