Collin "Bumble" Wharton was born at 15 Princess Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, Guyana, to Ethel & Roy Richards on May 26" of 1943. He was raised in a Christian household. As a child, he attended Smith's Congregational School & church, as well as Tutorial High School in Georgetown, Guyana.
He had a widely recognized passion for God, his family, & his music. He married Marjorie Charles on November 4* of 1967, at Elim Church in Georgetown, Guyana. They had four children whom he loved dearly.
Throughout most of his life, Collin was a professional musician renowned all over the West Indies for his skills & mastery of the guitar & organ. He was broadly known as "Bumble" from the band "Bumble & the Saints." He was honored in 2013 by the Guyana Cultural Association with the Exemplary Award for his sterling contributions to Guyana's entertainment legacy, including composing Guyana's well-known national song, "Kissing Bridge". He was also a member of the Performing Rights Society of Guyana in South America.
Later in life, he moved to Illinois, where he worked for the city of Evanston. In his 10 years of employment as a crossing guard, he was recognized for his hard work & attendance on multiple occasions. Despite his passing, he has left a remarkable impact filled with faith, love, inspiration, & excellence.
He is survived by his 4 children, James Wharton, Royston Wharton, Orieen Wharton, & Mark
Wharton. Also, his sisters Pauline Gill, Dawn McMahon, & Andrea Doobay.
