Margie Murray Obituary

Margie Mae Murray, daughter of Irvin Murray and Alma Saucier was born June 12, 1936 in Pass Christian, MS. Both of her parents and two sisters (Delores and Flora) preceded her in death. She was the product of and graduated from J.W. Randolph High School in Pass Christian, MS.

She left Pass Christian Mississippi and moved to Detroit to pursue a career in nursing after which she moved to Evanston, Illinois in 1960. To have and nurture her firstborn daughter Monica. In 1966 she gave birth to another baby girl, Kecia.

After some time working in factories in and around the Evanston and Chicagoland area, she finally ended up doing what she loved most and that would be cooking and serving not only at Evanston School District 65, but also at Evanston District 202 and Glenview School District 34 from where she retired. After retirement she kept busy in part by becoming a crossing guard with the City of Glencoe.

Did I say she loved to cook. That she did and she always did it with excellence. You could always find "Mom" in the kitchen or for a time at Iris's restaurant, a restaurant she and her cousin opened in the early eighties on Church and Dodge. She would always be putting something together and every holiday there would be a feast to enjoy, she would also have all kinds of candies, cookies and cakes.

She also loved to go to Church and had her membership at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Clay Evans. She was on the Nurses Board and attended faithfully. She is survived by her two daughters Monica and Kecia.

Son-in-law Walter Ridley, Grandchildren Aubrey, Phalon, Chelsea, Earin and Maisie. Two Great Grandchildren, Prince and Duke. One Brother, Eddie (Judith) Benoit, Bother-In-Law Jerry Rosemond and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. All of whom will miss her tremendously.
