Clarence graduated from Giles County High School in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1960. On January 6, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart,
Roberta Bledsoe, whom he had been dating since they were juniors. In the same year, he and Roberta moved to Evanston, Illinois. Born to this union was Clarence Edward Martin, Jr. and Lynnette Darlene Martin.

Clarence joined Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church 25 years ago and through the years, became a most faithful servant. For over 25 years, he was a Deacon, honored to serve as an Usher, and Treasurer of the Board of Christ Temple. Deacon Martin was always willing to help out in any way he could. Clarence was a family man who didn't go out much. He had a small circle of friends whom he cherished, including the late Arnett Judon, Sr. (who he considered as the brother he never had), Cleo Cole, and Archie Watson.
Clarence was loved by all who met him. 'People naturally gravitated toward his gentle spirit and soul. Many will say his greatest trait was he rarely
became mad or angry. But when he did, you knew you'd really done something!
Clarence leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Roberta; his children, Clarence Martin, Jr. and Lynnette
Martin; two grandchildren, Zachary Jones and Brandi Martin; and two sisters, Patricia Cross (Ray) of Atlanta, Georgia and his twin, Lucille Bugg (Joseph) of Pulaski, Tennessee. Clarence remains in the hearts of loving in -laws, nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews, cousins, and friends, including a very special family friend, Avis Littleton. Along with his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by sisters, Stella Pullen of Indianapolis, Indiana and Ina Cross of Indianapolis, Indiana. Please keep the family in your prayers.
