Mr. Cyril George Cherrington

Cyril George Cherrington was born on July 17, 1939, in Bangoridge, Portland, Jamaica. He passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, in Evanston, IL, USA. He was one of fourteen children born to Robert and Doris Cherrington.

His journey took him from Kingston, Jamaica to Richmond, Virginia in 1992. In pursuit of family ties, he later moved to Evanston, Illinois. He worked as a skilled, gifted mechanic and car painter his entire career. His dedication to his craft was matched by his love for others. His warm and kind-hearted nature endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cyril was also blessed to do electrical and plumbing work with ease. He could fix or build anything without YouTube, for him it was his innate gifts from God. He retired from these professions at 80 years old.

His spirit of excellence while practicing his crafts was seen and utilized by all. He was always willing to assist anyone with these gifts because it was his passion. His quiet demeanor was seen by all and acknowledged by many. His willingness to help others was a blessing for them but at times took a toll on him. Despite that , you rarely ever get a “no” from him. This spirit of helping all who he encountered followed him and the Lord rewarded him with 84 years of life. We are all grateful for his resilience and giving spirit.

Cyril was preceded in death by Felix Cherrington, Vincent Cherrington, Alice Cherrington, Willel Cherrington, Levie Cherrington, Minette Cherrington, Jane Cherrington, Icylin Cherrington Aird and James Cherrington Cyril Cherrington leaves to cherish his beloved family… Sisters: Adina Cherrington Wilson, Evanston, Illinois; Esther Cherrington, London England; Hermine Cherrington, Toronto, Canada; and brother Robert Cherrington, Kingston, Jamaica. Children: Sandra Cherrington, Cauline Cherrington, Monique Cherrington, Chevel Cherrington all in Kingston Jamaica; Sheryl Cherrington Eppes, Marie CherringtonGray, Leachman (Devon) Cherrington, Kimmarly (Nash) Cherrington, all in Florida, and Keisha Cherrington, United Kingdom.

Grandchildren: Jaylin Gray, Chamar Cherrington, Skylar Eppes, Charion Cherrington, Nova Cherrington, Taheir Cherrington, Davier Cherrington, Gabby Cherrington, Stacy Cherrington, Remira Cherrington, Kishaun Cherrington, Corey Max, Ajay Douglas, Devonne Cherrington, Malia Gordon Special nieces/nephew – Louis Parks, Lileith Parks, Henrietta (Janet) Donlon, Joycelyn Jackson, Michael Robinson, Charmaine Forbes ; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
