James “Coco” Copeland was born May 25, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James Copeland and Ella Sims. Shortly after he was born, the family relocated to Evanston Illinois.
James better known as Coco, attended the Evanston Public School, and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1966. He then attended the Los Angeles Community in Los Angeles, California; and upon graduating from college, he served in the military, and received an honorable discharge.
He was employed at Major Reflector, where he work for many years. He was also employed and worked for the Skokie Park District where in 2014 he retired after working for over 10 years.
Coco was loved by many for his great sense of human, and everyone that crossed paths with him, would be left laughing at something he said.
Coco leaves to morning his transition 4 sons, Michael, Victor, Andre (LaTanya), Janes (Sakarya) and 1 brother, Wesley Doyle of California. 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, A host of relatives and friends in the Evanston Community.
