James W. Sprowl was born in Bradley, South Carloina on May 13th, 1917, the son of Frank and Willie Lee Sprowl. James was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Eddie Mae in 1942, and shortly thereafter moved from South Carolina to Illinois. Their marriage lasted for 68
years and provided a safe haven for two boys and four girls. .
James became a member of Bethel AME Church shortly after he moved to Evanston, IL. He served Bethel faithfully as a Trustee, member of the Netcasters and the Men's Choir. He enjoyed singing in the Men's Choir and on many occasions would sing his signature song "Do Lord 0 Do
Lord 0 do Lord remember me." He loved to fish and was passionate about the Chicago Cubs.
James is preceded in death by his father, Frank Sprowl, mother Willie Lee Sprowl, brothers Frank and William
Sprowl, sister Lillie Mae Elam, his wife of 69 years, Eddie Mae. He leaves to cherish his memory sisters, Mary Alice Burton, Margaret Bates and Mary Ester Ellerbe; children, Emma, John, Ernie, (Sharon), Angela, Letitia, Toni, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and a host of
nieces and nephews and 2 God children. Please keep the family in your prayers.
