Paul David Gibson was born on August 16, 1949 in Fulton, Missouri to Paul and Ida Mae Gibson. Paul was the eldest of two other siblings. Paul was baptized at St. James Methodist Church in Fulton, Missouri at an early age. Paul who was fondly called "Butch". He was a graduate of Fulton High School. He was the second best swimmer, and won a number of awards. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force. He proudly served his country in Viet Nam and during the Agent Orange era. He was a military police and the only black dog handler in the Air Force. He had a special dog he trained, named "Spike". Shortly after being honorably discharged, he met Melvia Mays in Oakland, California and they later married in 1971. From this
union their only child was born, Shalonda.
Paul had worked for the San Quentin State Prison of California as a prison guard and at the United Postal Service in California for a
while. Paul was a private man of very few words, but when it came to the Lordzhe certainly would take time and talk with you to the extent. He would minister to those on the streets in Oakland, California which is what he loved to do. He loved the Lord. He was concerned about people's souls, even when he was battling with his illness.
Paul loved his music, his oldies. As a hobby, he wrote songs. He loved to sing as' well. He wrote a song titled "Momma, I Won't Have to Cry No More" in which he was very proud and excited to let you hear him sing it. Although unexpected to us, the Lord saw it best to call his faithful servant home to be with him and his other
loved ones.
Paul was preceded in death by both his parents Paul and Ida Mae Gibson; both sets of grandparents, David & Mary M. Gibson and Julius & Bessie M.
