Mrs. Alberta McKenzie Obituary

Alberta McKenzie's life began on August 23, 1931, a radiant dawn welcomed by Cecil Wignal and Rebecca Keys. She was the eldest of nine siblings, a role she embraced with love and responsibility.

Her early years were marked by diligence and faith, attending McCoy All Age School and finding solace in the New Testament Church of God.

After a pivotal move to Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, she began pouring her heart into her community, teaching Sunday school, lending her voice to the choir, and engaging in various ministries and prayer circles, all while radiating her unwavering devotion to God.

In 1948, fate wove a beautiful tapestry as Alberta crossed paths with FitzAlbert McKenzie. Their love story unfolded, culminating in a sacred union on June 26, 1956. Together, they established their own grocery stores and real estate business. Within the sanctuary of their home, Alberta nurtured and guided their six children with boundless love and unwavering dedication.

She was also called by many other names: Miss. G and Grandma by close friends and family. After working as a nanny, she began working at Saint Francis Hospital as an Environmental Service Worker until she retired in1993. After retirement, Alberta and FitzAlbert decided it was time for them to enjoy life and travel When her husband passed away in 2006, she continued traveling to visit family in Florida, Jamaica, and Europe.

Miss. G gracefully transitioned from this world at 92 years old on February 16, 2024, in Evanston, Illinois, peaceful in her sleep. As we bid farewell to her, we cherish the memories of her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. Throughout her life, her gentle spirit and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a memorable mark of love and grace. Though she may have departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those privileged to know her, which is a testament to a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will endure for generations to come. Please keep the family in your prayers.
