Mrs. Barbara Kirksey Obituary

Barbara Jean Jackson-Kirksey was born to the late Allen Eugene Jackson and Ruth McElderry Jackson on July 14, 1931, in Munford Alabama.  Barbara was better known and called by her loved ones Muh. 

She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was baptize at the Munford Church of Christ in Alabama. She was raised in Alabama where her early education was in the public schools. She graduated from Munford High School in Talladega County.

She came to Illinois with her husband and three children in the early 1960's. Barbara attended Sawyer Business School and graduated. Afterwards She went to work at John J. Cahill, Inc., In Evanston.

After leaving Cahill she gained employment at Evanston Skokie School District 65. She worked faithfully for the Food Services Department throughout the district. She retired after 35 years of service.

Barbara loved Bingo. As kids, her children would always ask her where she was going all dressed up and carrying several bags. She would tell them she was going to the Moon. (We actually watched that moon constantly; trying to see where she was located on that moon; so, we could sneak out the house). 

On Sunday morning's She would faithfully watch Living 'Word Christian" with Bill Winston and ''Lakewood Church" with Joel Osteen every Sunday morning. She loved watching Steve Harvey's, Wheel of fortune and Family Feud. Let's not forget the Price is Right.

She enjoyed Jazz, Baseball, Theater and loved to travel. She did not miss any football or basketball games. Barbara's favorite player was Michael Jordan, and she was in love with B.J. Armstrong.

Barbara loved being with her family, and friends, always joking, laughing and having and having fun. She was always constantly teaching her children and grandchildren about life lessons, everyone that knew her, knew her as a woman that had a loving, kind heart, and a generous soul. She was always willing to help others in need. Her great and warm personality touched many lives for many years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her Father Allen Jackson and Mother, Ruth Jackson. Siblings; Omega Jackson Kirksey (Freeman); Dorothy Jackson Anderson (Benny); Cleo Jackson Sr. (Geneva); Willie Howard Jackson; Hazel Jackson Forbes (Wesley) and              Francis Jackson Curry, and Daughter Traci Kirksey Roach.

Her precious memory lives on as she is survived by her children; 7 'Daughters and 2 Son's; Patricia Starks (Robert), Shelia Carter ('Ronald); 'Ronald Kirksey, Gregory Kirksey, Donna Thomas (David), Tanya Kirksey, Toni Kirksey, Caro Kirksey-Wright, and Tammy Kirksey.

Twenty-nine Grandchildren, Thirty-four Great grandchildren and Fifteen Great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives ana best friends. please keep the family in your prayers.
