Mrs. Doris E Calhoun

Doris Calhoun was born in Shelby County, Alabama to the late Wallace Mitchell and Ruth Mitchell. As a child, Doris attended Cobb Junior High and Anniston High School, where she met Artie Lee Calhoun. The two married in Alabama and their union welcomed the apple of Doris's eye, Tracey.

In the early 1960's, Doris moved to Evanston, IL. Doris worked for Sterling Drugs in Evanston for many years before opening her own home day care for children. Doris was a natural caregiver. At an early age, Doris accepted God into her life. Doris was a longtime member of Ebenezer AME Church in Evanston, IL.

Doris had a very special place in her heart for her only grandchild Stacey. A day never went by without calling or seeing each other. They had an unbreakable bound. Doris was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Mitchell; mother Ruth Mitchell; and brother Wallace Mitchell, Jr.

Doris leaves behind a daughter Tracey (Derek) in Skokie, IL; a granddaughter Stacey in Skokie, IL; two sisters, Pat Mitchell in Atlanta, GA and Delores Cockran in New York; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. Please keep the family in your prayers.
