Mrs. Dorothy Cordoba Obituary

Dorothy Taylor Cordoba was one of eight children born to Charles E. Taylor and Bessie Lee Taylor in Evanston, Illinois. Her siblings-Charles, Kathryn, Loranzo, David, Ruth, Lee, Mildred and her parents preceded her in death.

She often said she was born in Bethel A.M.E. Church as her mother was a founding member. Bethel was her home church from infancy through adulthood. She accepted Christ as her savior at a young age and served in various ministries including the senior choir, church
clerk, Mar Beth Missionary Society and Sunday school teacher. She was a 1947 graduate of Evanston Township High School and completed-four years of study at Roosevelt University with an emphasis in music education and liberal arts.

Dorothy could always be counted on to deliver a song in her rich alto voice with vibrato. She married her late husband Maximo J. Cordoba, Sr. and has two devoted sons, Jaciel and Serjio. Her professional life consisted of secretarial positions with supervisory roles. She was alsoonce self employed as a transcriber of court reporter notes, where she transferred shorthand from a stenotype machine to typewritten manuscripts. Her laugh was infectious, her worship inspiring and impactful, and her prayers packed a punch that let you know you'd been prayed for.

She went to be with the Lord just two weeks and a day shy of her 91st birthday. She leaves her two sons, loving daughter-in-law Maria Elena and a grandson, Maximo Elisha, nieces, nephews and friends. Please keep the family in your prayers.
