Evelyn Melsada (Hylton) Bess was born October 29th, 1925 in Bridgewater, the Parish of Westmoreland Jamaica. She went home for eternal rest September 1st 2022 one month short of her 97th Birthday
Evelyn was the third child of 4 born to Michael Hylton and Ada Mulvina Graham of which 2 brothers preceded her in death and she is survived by Sister Dorothy Rose Lee.
Evelyn met and married James Samuel Bess, a union that produced 4 Children:(Betty) Elnora Mulvina who preceded her in death; Coranna Reva; Hugh Melbert(Evelyn) and Theodore Anthony.
The Family migrated to Evanston Illinois in 1969, where Evelyn became a Member of St. Andrews Episcopal where she served on the Vestry,was a Treasurer and served on the altar guild. She worked at Arens Control where she got Certificates in the food service industry and managed the Lunch room there; She was also an avid gardener and is well known for her gladiola blooms and the beautiful gardens she tended kept at 1611 Crain.
ln1998 she moved to Orlando Florida where she extended and duplicated this same dedication to Church and Christ at Holy Family Episcopal. She was a member of several Social clubs especially The Young at Heart where she traveled the US as well as internationally.
She also received certification in the Healthcare industry where she served as an Adult caregiver and participated in Meals on Wheels program delivering food for the sick and shut in.
Evelyn is survived by her 5 Grandchildren: Theodore, Zahra, Amanda,Tarik and Amari: Great Grand kids Kingston, Kaiser and Koda. (Reva, Hugh, Theodore, (Jessie, Simone) and a host of other relatives in Jamaica, the UK, Canada and here in the US.
Evelyn's greatest wish was to return to Evanston, her Church home where she is still remembered and cherished members she's worshiped with since the beginning.
