Gretel. Leonra Jenkins was born in Gales Pointe, Belize on .March. 22, 1952 to Kathleen & Dolton Jenkins, Sr. She was the youngest girl in a line of siblings that includes Rudolph, Cynthia, Raymond, Adolph, Genevieve, Darrel, Dolton, Jr., .Allison, Denton, & Alma.
You can say a lot when it comes to Gretel Jenkins. First and foremost, she was a mom who gave birth to three sons; Kurtis Sr., Howye and, Arthur. But if you asked Gretel, she was most proud to be called grandma. Grandmother to Jada; Jazmin, Harris, Savannah, Kurtis Jr., .Michael, Clifford & Betty. Gretel was also known as mother in law to Tamika, who is married to Howye, and Jorie, who is married. to Arthur.
In her younger days Gretel was one of the best first base softball players. Gretel migrated to Chicago in 1976 and found herself at Monogram Models making toys. From there Gretel gravitated to jobs in the Home Care and babysitting field. After working hard and saving her money Gretel sent for her sons in 1979.
Gretel was opinionated, some would. even say stubborn, a fighter, determined. and. independent. She was a fierce card player, Ioved dancing and always made time to catch the next big boxing match. Even through sickness Gretel stiff found the time and energy to connect with family. Gretel' Leonra Jenkins succumbed to her hearth battles on Sunday, November 15th. The mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and. friend, will be missed but never forgotten. Gretel left us with memories to share with each other for years to come. Please keep the family in your prayers.
