Mrs. Katherine Loretta Lane

Katherine Loretta Lane entered life on September 12, 1947, in Evanston, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Maxine Motten and Charles Wakefield. She had one brother, Michael.

Katherine accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church, Evanston, Illinois. She graduated from Evanston Township High School where she was well known for how fast she could run. She was an asset to the track team.

In the late 1960's she was swept off her feet when she met Oliver through her Aunt Gloria aka "Tiny". She married Oliver in 1966 and from this union 2 children were born; Oliver Jr. and Anthony. Katherine worked many years at Washington Insurance as a secretary. She then moved on to International Publications, and after many years of loyal service she retired from there.

"Rhett" as she was affectionately known, was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was a gentle giant. She had a peaceful demeanor and always loved a good laugh. She loved her cheese popco1n and pork rinds. She was thoughtful and kind hearted and her family meant the world to her. Oliver was the love of her life and God put each of them on this Earth to find each other and to be together.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 56 years, Oliver; 2 sons Oliver Jr. and Anthony (Drenda); 7 grandchildren (Iesha, Olivia, Jazha, Myzha, Ania, Anthony Lee Owens and Aaron Lee. Her grandson Kendall preceded her in death); 6 great grandchildren (Jeremiah, Rashad, Jayce, Kinsley, Jeremiah Owens and Cristian Owens). She also leaves one brother-in-law, John Lane ·of Ackerman, MS; 4 sisters-in-law Mamie Cottrell of Des Plaines, IL: Judy Lane of Land O' Lakes, FL: Betty Lane of Evanston, IL and Glyndean Lane of Evanston, IL. There are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends that will miss her dearly. Please keep the family in your prayers.
