Lucia Mae Jenkins was bor August 1, 1925, in
Abbeville. South Carolina. She was the fourth sibling
of Ella Olivia Washington Jenkins and Peter Jenkins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband
of fifty-four years, Eugene Earl Robinson, her sister,
Juanita Fannie Adams, and her brother Albert Henry
Jenkins.
Lucia entered grade school and graduated from
Abbeville High School. She continued her education
attending Elizabeth City State Teachers College where
she received her BS degree in Elementary Education in
1947 in Elizabeth Citv. North Carolina.
She was employed at Wieboldt's store, Wyeth
Laboratory and Northwestern University where she
received Staff Service Recognition; was Nominee for
Employee of the Year 1990 and awarded Certificate for
Outstanding Attendance 1998. She was a Bus Monitor
for School District #65.
Lucia joined Ebenezer AME Church under the
pastorate of the Reverend Ulysses S. Robinson where
she was a faithful member, a class leader (#28), a
steward and a member of the Usher Board for over
fifty years serving as secretary and president, and a
member of the Northshore Usher League.
She leaves behind her daughter Patricia Olivia
Robinson Haynes Johnson, three grandchildren:
Marcus Scott (Jennifer) Haynes, Michelle Leona
Haynes and Jocelyn Anitra Haynes; two great
grandchildren: Malik Nasir Haynes and Makayla
Nashanti Haynes. A devoted sister, Ella Olivia
Harrison of Abbeville, South Carolina and a host of
nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-
great grandchildren, cousins, and many friends.
