Sallie Theresa Johnson was born on October 27, 1946, in Mobile, AL to the union of the late Willie and Maude Johnson. Sallie was the third of ten children.
Sallie would beam with joy and proudly declare she attended Central High School in Mobile. She would eventually leave Mobile and relocate to San Diego, CA. To know her was to quickly learn she never met a stranger. She was a social worker at heart who possessed a wealth of knowledge when it came to directing people who needed assistance. She had a true love for people and would help anyone.
Sallie was the Grand Worthy Matron of the Lilly’s of the Valley Chapter of the Eastern Star in San Diego, CA. She was a leader who gave back to the community through back-to-school drives, picnics, and Christmas toy drives.
In 2005, Sallie moved back to Mobile, AL where so many relationships with family and friends were rekindled. During this time, many families, and friends also experienced her love for cooking. She could outbake any baker. She was famous for her pound cakes and potato salad.
Sallie’s faith in God never wavered. She had a love for God’s word and would read her Bible and pray every morning before the start of her day. She never complained despite what she was facing. She always had a smile on her face when she greeted someone. In addition, she was an avid lover of politics and news. Her favorite news show was MSNBC, and CNN, along with the game show The Price is Right.
