Sherry Ann Walker Henley was born in Thomaston Georgia to the late Monroe Walker, Sr. and the late Mary F. Walker on February 25, 1948. She departed this life suddenly on Friday, March 6, 2020 surrounded by family.
The family lived in Chicago for a short time and then moved to Evanston, Illinois where she grew up attended Dewey Elementary School, Nichols Jr. High and she graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1966. In later years she took classes and obtained her Associate's degree.
Sherry (nickname Sherrann, Shay Shay, and Sherry Baby) was a kind and loving person who was always there for her family. She was quiet and even tempered. Sherry made everyone that she came in contact with feel relaxed. Nothing seemed to ruffle her calm demeanor. She loved to read and collect Harlequin romance novels. Sherry has a beautiful smile. Even though she was quiet, she was very much a social butterfly. She enjoyed attended festivals, concerts, plays, museums, parades, and traveling. Sherry also enjoyed baking and needlepoint. She made some of the best chocolate chip cookies around!
Sherry was employed by Washington National Insurance Company for 25 years during that time she met and married James C, Henley. This union produced her son; her pride and joy, Erik T. Henley. She loved her son so much and he loved her. They shared the love of their 3 dogs Karma, El, and Baby Girl. Sherry was also employed at Wheels for 5 years.
Sherry is preceded in death by both her parents, her brother Bobby Walker, her sister Delores Walker Miller, and her brother Monroe Walker, Jr. She is survived by her son Erik T. Henley; siblings Marvin L. Walker, Janis W. Henderson (Clyde), Rozine Walker, Priscilla Walker, Marilyn Walker, Alvin R. Walker (Kathy), Pharoh M. Walker, Sonya Walker and sister-in-law Donna Walker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, She was also loved and she will be missed. Rest in peace!
