Mrs. Sonia Hall Obituary

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Sonia Marie Cecelia Hall, died on May 9th, 2024, after a short illness. She was 86.

Sonia died peacefully at Evanston Hospital in Evanston Illinois surrounded by family. She was born November 22, 1937, in Belize City to the late Cruz Silva and Ismay Hyde.

After graduating from St Catherine Academy in April of 1956. She worked as a Civil Servant with the government of Belize, until her retirement.

Sonia and her family lived in Belize City before moving to Belmopan in 1970 and lived there to date. She was an active and founding member of Belmopan Methodist Church.

Sonia was the heart of our home and family. She raised all her children in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. Sonia was married for 66 years to her soul mate, Clifton Neal Hall. Their union was blessed with 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was the fun, loving and nurturing Grandma.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Octavio Velasquez, her sister Yolanda Velasquez, her brother Cruz Silva Jr., Sisters Flavia Silva and Estelle Silva, her grandchildren Jermaine James and Janelle Gardiner and her daughter-in-law Lourdes Yvette Wade Hall.

Sonia leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Clifton (Dor) Hall, children Diane Hall, Karen Gardiner (Charles Jr.), Sharon Hall, Clifton Hall Jr., Marchell Hall, Nadine Chambers (Ivan Sr.) and Elute Hall. Stepson Phillip Williams (Jenny), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Three sisters, Ester Taveras (Tony), Raquel Velasquez and Riz Usher and several nieces and nephews.

A final service and burial will be held at Belmopan Methodist Church on May 30th, 2024.

Sonia's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her life was a melody of love, and community—a tune that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched forever.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.

Please keep the family in your prayers.
