Ms. Annie Gulley Obituary

Annie Vivian Gulley was born to the late James Gulley Sr and Minnie Lee (Norwood) Gulley on July 7, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama. She departed this life on Monday, June 7, 2021, in Evanston, Illinois.

"Ann", as she was affectionally known, was educated in the public school system of Mobile, Alabama. She furthered her education by attending Bishop State Community College where she obtained an associate's degree. Ann continued her education at Alabama A&M University where she obtained a degree in Social Work.

Ann decided that teaching was her passion and returned to college to obtain a degree in education in leadership and administration. Ann was passionate about children and learning. Ann taught at Douglas Middle School in Chicago, Illinois for many years and loved every minute of it, especially when her students were successful. Ann wanted her children to reach their highest potential while helping to facilitate student's learning at Douglas. Ann served in that compacity until her retirement. After retiring, she ventured into real estate and owned several buildings in the Chicago area. Like education, she became passionate about managing and maintaining her businesses.

Ann was proceeded in death by her parents (James and Minnie) Gulley, her oldest sister Virgie L. Ellard and her oldest brother James Gulley Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories three brothers, Eugene (Lola) Gulley Skokie, II, Herman (Janie) Gulley Creola, AL and Bennie (Alice) Gulley of Des Plaines,Il . Three sisters Bettye (Jessie) Miles Huntsville, AL, Patricia A. Lomax Huntsville, AL and Evelyn G. Murphy Semmes, AL. A host of nephews and nieces that she loved dearly. Ann was ready to meet the needs of her family anytime that they called upon her.

As Ann traveled throughout her career, she made many friends 'Who became like family to all of us. Eunava Acker and Jackie Blackwell are two who come to mind. When Ann was going through any situation, she would always call on Euneva and she would be right there. Ann was loved and valued by everyone that she encountered and she will be truly missed by. her family, friends, and loved ones, please keep the family in your prayers.
