Darlene Marshall, affectionately known by everyone as Tootsie, was born on August 19, 1960 in Evanston Illinois, she was the third child of Lallie Marshall & Curtis Venson.
Darlene was educated in the Evanston Public School System. Over her lifetime, she held down numerous jobs here in the Evanston Community. She worked for the City of Evanston, the Bib n Tucker Laundromat, with her last job being at AW Zengeler Cleaners in Winnetka IL where she had to resign due to health issues.
Because of her love for children and her community, Darlene could always be found volunteering at Family Focus Community Center (in the youths after school & summer programs) & Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center.
Darlene wore many hats throughout her life; from a loving daughter, mther, sister, granny, auntie, community activist in her own way, a self-appointed family cook, a writer, and yes a true friend.
Darlene is preceded in death by her Great Grandfather Benonia Miller, Grandfather Ellis Venson, Grandmother Maggie Austin, parents Lallie Marshall & Curtis Venson, two sisters Charlene Marshall & Billie Jean Marshall, a grandson Davion Marshall, & a great nephew Aquan Lewis.
Darlene will continue to live in the hearts & minds of those who love & cherish the memories of her time with them. She leaves her children: Charlotte & Troy Marshall(Ashley Smith), a Stepmother Georgia Venson, her siblings: William Marshall of Evanston IL, Cynthia Venson of Galveston TN, Herman Marshall of St. Cloud MN, Mark Venson of Nashville TN & Sam Jackson(Georgia) of Glenview IL. Seven grandchildren: Tremayne Marshall, Lania Marshall, Justin Tate, Julissa Tate, Travion Marshall, Ameer Marshall & Ameeria Marshall, as well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Her Spiritual family: Mrs. Joann Avery, Robin Robinson, Jacqueline Norman, Beth Jacobs, & the Grandparent Group.
