Ms. Denene Davis Obituary

I, Denene Rochelle Davis was born in Community Hospital in Evanston Illinois on Monday, August 11, 1969, already 223 days into the year at 10:58 pm. It was 66 degrees, and the skies were partly cloudy. Being the youngest in my family I'd like to think the Lord chose that day because he knew I was destined for great things.

I attended Walker Elementary School, Haven Middle School, and in 1987, I graduated from Evanston Township High School. After high school, I attended Catherine College and received a certificate in early childhood education. I went 011 to attend Robert Morris College and received an associate degree in education.

While in high school, I joined the Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer under the leadership of Father Dr. Charles G. Hayes. Under his guidance, I traveled the world singing and praising the Lord. I had an awesome group of family and friends, LaShanda Chiles, Tarneka Harrison, Yvette Turpin, Jackie Are Taylor, Irma Jean Jones, Derail Smith (who is now my pastor), Cory Raspberry, Brian Anderson Jessica Triplett. If you're reading this, I'm with Brain, Jackie, and Irma Jean starting up the new choir.

After high school, I worked the night shift for Avon. Jessica and Keith Taylor (Cousin) worked there, and it's always good to have family close by. They made those nights go by fast. This is when I realized that I could work at night and get stuff done during the day. I didn't realize that working nights and not getting the proper amount of sleep would be the death of me.

Even though I had no children, I was a mother to all my nieces, nephews, and godchildren. I made sure they were always "dressed to the nines" per Latrice. When holidays came around, I made sure they had custom made outfits and the girls had frilly dresses with matching shoes and hair bows. The boys had suits, hats. and shoes to match. I know you all thought at times I was mean, but I wasn't I was very firm with you because I loved you so much and just wanted you to do the right thing the first time.

After Avon closed, I followed, Jessica to Dakoda which is a company that makes auto parts for Ford. I enjoyed my job.

However, after being there for five years my health started to fail. Remembering things started to be a little challenging. So, I went to live with my sister Pat & Sherry, and after many doctor's visits and a ton of medical procedures, I found out I had symptoms of different levels of dementia and Alzheimer's. I was devastated by this diagnosis, as I was only 48 years old. I wondered; how could this happen to me? No matter how many different medications I took, and no matter how many doctors I saw, my health kept deteriorating. I would like to thank my sister Sherry the strongest person I know for taken care of me and keep me going even when I didn't feel like it. I know it wasn't always easy, but you did it. On March 13 at 12:30 pm, I asked the Lord, please, come get me, and he did.

I am preceded in death by my father, Paul Gray, and my grandparents Douglas and Lora Taylor, & my nephew Jamere Gregory.

I leave behind my mother, Carol Gregory Williams (Isaac), and to cherish my memory sisters Patricia Gregory Phillips (Donald), Sandra Nuckolls (Tom), Catherine L. Gregory Turner (Bryan), Vivian Jackson (Vernon), Sherry Gregory, Cousin/sister Tina Green, Jessica Triplett, brother Shun Gray (Shelia), cousin/brothers, Ricky Taylor, Keith Taylor (Sandra), Tony Green, godchildren ,Judah Rashad, Ameena Barrett, Jordan Jones, Antoine Taylor, Antoinette Taylor, a special friend Rommel Meeks, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To you that I have left behind, please don't "if I could, I would, I should" yourselves because we make choices and things happen that we have no control over. One thing is certain, whenever there is life, death is soon to follow. I love you all and please take care of each other. Please keep the family in your prayers.
