Marva Anne Brooks was born November 18, 1941, in Henderson, Kentucky to parents Dorothy Marie Chaney, and Charles Brooks. Marva attended the Kentucky school system before relocating to Evanston, IL, where she became the mother of three precious children, Charlotte, Michelle, and Gerald.
Marva began her journey with Christ at Second Baptist Church, located in Evanston, IL. As she continued to strengthen her walk with Christ, years later she eventually became a faithful member of First Church of God Christian Life Center, also located in Evanston IL, where she was an
active member and continued there until God called her home.
Marva was a hard-working nurturing mother who loved children so much that she not only dedicated her life to her own children but took on a lifelong career of caring for a host of other children. "MOM" went above and beyond to make sure she provided for her family and made sure her children never went without. One of her biggest accomplishments in life was that of being a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children and family meant the world to her and there was nothing she wouldn't do for them. She made sure she showed them what unconditional love looked like, and what it meant to
be a true component of a family.
As a devoted grandmother and great grandmother, she made sure to make those precious calls just to say, "I love you," always remembering birthdays and giving the best advice. Anyone that knew Marva knew that she lived life to the fullest, never missing an opportunity to smile and make the best out of every situation. She loved making memories, laughing, and dancing to the beat of her own drum. She meant the absolute world to her family, a woman with a beautiful soul and a kind and gentle spirit.
In her journey home, Marva has finally been reunited with her mom, Dorothy Marie Chaney, her father, Charles Brooks, her two aunts, Bobbette Agnew and Sue Ellen Chaney, her uncle Charles Yates, along with a host of other family and friends.
Marva set the bar high for those who remain here on earth. She leaves to carry on her legacy, her brother Chuck Pettius (Damphiea/Nicole), her three children: Charlotte Marie Brooks, Michelle Brooks (Gibert), and Gerald Brooks. Five grandchildren: Dejuan Johnson, Tonya Barton, Jesse Floyd, Jeremey Brooks, an Jarad
Floyd.
A host of Great-Grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Dejuan (Carlee), Kennadi, Payton, Emori, Sevyn, Ariiah, Justyce, Zamari, and Ensley; And a host
of family and friends.
Lastly, the family would like to send out a special THANK YOU to Kathleen Agnew (cousin), who assisted in caring for Mother Marva during her final days upon the earth.
