Sandra Dianne Mims, departed this life on Sunday March 21, 2021. Sandra Dianne Mims was born September 20, 1950 and departed this life on March 21, 2021. She was the first of three children born to the late James and Thelma Mims. Her beloved brother Michael Wilmore and sister Alice Murray also preceded her in death. Sandra was raised and remained in Evanston her entire life. She attended Saint Mary's Catholic grade school and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1968.
She went to college at Southern Illinois University and received her Bachelor's Degree in 1972. She eventually went on to receive her Master's Degree as well. Sandra began her teaching career in the Evanston School System District 65 teaching Spanish. She taught at Chute Middle School until she retired. She devoted her life to educating her students not only in the language but also in the Spanish culture. In fact, she loved the rich traditions and customs so much that she would spend many summers in Mexico and Spain. Sandra never married, but she was devoted to her family and her students. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Larry, brother James and a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, other family, friends and co-workers.
Sandra had a very shy demeanor but once you got to know her, you would find that she had a sense of humor and was easy to talk to. She will truly be missed.
