Sherry Ann Johnson, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 65 in Evanston, Illinois. Known for her vibrant spirit, boundless kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family, Sherry touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will forever live on in the lives she influenced.
Born in Evanston on December 8, 1959, to the late George and Barbara (Dutch) Johnson, Sherry grew up in a close-knit community that shaped her lifelong commitment to helping others. She attended Evanston Township High School and remained deeply connected to her hometown, where she became a beacon of strength and encouragement to those around her.
Sherry had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen and valued. With her infectious laugh and radiant smile, she brought joy to every gathering and was always there with a listening ear and a kind word. She had a selfless heart and a deep love for her family, which was the cornerstone of her life.
In 1975, Sherry gave birth to her first child, Michael, who became her pride and joy. Tragically, Michael passed away in 1991, a loss she carried with incredible grace and strength. Despite this heartache, Sherry remained a pillar of love and resilience, finding joy in the lives of her two daughters, Brittany and Brianna.
Sherry's greatest delight was her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure: Morgan, Roger "Jr.", Rachel, Malakai, Makayla, Audielle, and Audiaire. Her time with them was filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Barbara Johnson, siblings
Gwendolyn Carter (Curtis), Gregory Johnson, Jeffery Johnson, and Kevi Johnson (LaVette), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts $ uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Sherry is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved father, George Lewis Johnson (2009), and her son, Michael Lenell Langford (1991).
Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
