Thomas Henley affectionately known as TJ was born April 29, 1950, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lucinda Henley in Brooksville, Mississippi. TJ was the third oldest of eight children. TJ's childhood nickname was Nat which came from him being very small.
TJ received his education at BF Liddell in Macon, Mississippi. In the early 1970s, the family moved to Evanston, Illinois. In 1982, TJ met the love of his life, Patty Daniel who preceded him in death. To this union three children were born, Candace, Shante, and Whitney. TJ was the world's greatest father not only to his girls but all their friends as well. His six grandchildren were his life.
TJ attended DeVry University earning a degree in mechanical engineering. TJ was a man of many hats. He once owned a restaurant called Henley's that was located on Simpson Street and Greenbay Road in Evanston. He also had a landscaping business and a hauling company called Henley Hauling. He worked at a company call Sure Brothers that made studio and deejay equipment such as turntables and microphones. For 27 years, TJ was employed with the Village of Wilmette.
TJ was real peculiar about how he dressed. He had two sets of clothes, his day wear and his night wear. TJ loved his cars. He made sure to always get his car washed and that a pine tree air freshener was hanging. TJ loved to play bid whist and spades, but it was the dice that he was known to be pretty good with. He could really make them roll.
TJ was very quiet and reserved. He didn't make a lot of noise, but you knew he was in the room . He didn't say much, but he never needed to yet when he talked he definitely had something to say.
On December 21, 2024, TJ departed his earthly life to be reunited with his life partner, Patty; his parents, Thomas and Lucinda; his siblings, Morris, Margaret and Laretha Henley.
